Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a P60 and a Payslip?

A P60 is certificate of earnings that your employer must give to you if you are employed by them on 5th April. On it will be details of your pay before tax and NI has been deducted and breakdowns of all the statutory deductions and payments such as tax, NI, Student Loans as well as SSP, SMP etc payments.

Payslips are a legal requirement for all payments made by an
employer to an employee and must contain by law the gross pay, descriptions and amounts of deductions made from the gross pay and the net amount to be paid to you, if different amounts are to be paid in different ways this must also appear. Most payslips contain much more than this such as NI number, tax code, date of payment etc etc. The payslips we produce comply with the law and have a huge amount of additional information included (if required by you) as standard.

Why would I need both payslips and a P60?

Some companies and organisations may want to see both the payslips and P60 to confirm and double check your income. Whilst some are are happy to see just either the payslips or the P60 it is always a good idea to have both available.

Do I need to know all my payment and tax details?

No, all we need to know is what your yearly salary is and we will work out your gross pay, tax, NI and net pay for you. If you have your tax code then we will use it, if not we will use the standard tax code for the tax year.

You can work out your yearly salary by multiplying your normal pay before any deductions by either 52 for weekly pay, 26 for fortnightly pay, 13 for four weekly pay or 12 for monthly pay.

I don't know what my Tax Code is?

Your tax code is normally included on the payslips you received from your employer however, as it is not a legal requirement for it to be included, there is no guarantee it will be there. Although your tax code must appear on a P60 it will more than likely relate to a previous tax year and may be out of date as tax codes usually change every year.

Don't worry if you don't have your tax code as there is a standard one that is used and around 95% of employees have it. Whatever you do, don't guess your tax code as this could lead to incorrect calculations.

Are we genuine?

The only suppliers that worry about this question are the dubious ones that go to great lengths to prove their 'genuineness'.

We are NW Payroll, we have over 300 regular bureau clients and have been in the payroll industry for many years. Check out our main site (www.nwpayroll.com) and make your own mind up.

How do I know my payment details will be safe?

All payments are processed on our behalf by one of the UK's oldest, safest and most secure online payments processor. All payment details are protected by 128 bit security. Full details our online payments processor can be found on our payments page.

How quickly can my payslips be sent?

By selecting our online service you can have your payslips in around 5 to 10 minutes. We are the only suppliers of online payslips, simply input your details, make your payment and print the payslips from your browser. If this is too quick we can also email payslips as well as posting them to you. All our delivery options are available from the 'Delivery' menu option.

What if my payslips don't arrive?

By selecting our next day postal service your payslips are guaranteed by a certain date and time as well as being able to be tracked. Whatever your chosen delivery method we will resend free of charge all orders not received as long as we are notified within five days of placing the order.

Do you need to contact anybody about my order?

We have no need to contact anybody else to complete your order as all the information we need is supplied by you. On the basis that the information you supply is true and correct there is no need for us to verify it in any way. Your pay information is treated in the strictest of confidence and is only ever used to produce your order.

Will my payslips look like copies?

Your payslips will be exactly the same as the ones we produce for our 300 plus bureau client's. They will not be identified as copies or duplicates. As far as anybody is concerned they are the real thing. With the exception of our online payslips, for which we use a bespoke online processing system, we use Sage Payroll, the industry standard, to calculate and produce the payslips. The payslips we use are of heavy weight paper and are over printed using our own bespoke design. Security payslips are pressure sealed using a 2000psi Z fold pressure seal machine and are not the cheap and flimsy pin number envelope type.
